“Australia! Me and the Benders are about to head off and sharpen our tools out in the big wide world and THEN we’re stoked to be coming home to play with YOU”- Marlon.

Penny Drop
and Frontier Touring are thrilled to announce New Zealand’s Marlon Williams will deliver his My Boy Tour to Australian East Coast audiences in February 2023. Beginning at Sydney’s newly renovated Enmore Theatre – in an intimate fully seated mode – on Wednesday 15 February, the tour will head through Brisbane’s QPAC Concert Hall on Thursday 16 February, before winding up at Melbourne’s iconic Palais Theatre on Saturday 18 February.

A celebrated live performer, Marlon Williams has wowed audiences the world over, playing major festivals, joining the likes of Lorde and Florence + The Machine live on-stage, and appearing on international late night television programs, Conan and Later with Jools Holland.

“The purity of Marlon Williams’ voice is rare and entrancing.” NPR Music

“… the energy in the room was palpable for the entire show.” The Age

“… he presents a performance of such jaw dropping virtuosity… Each song is better, richer and more mellifluous and show stopping than the last.”Stuff.co.nz

With Williams’ anticipated third solo album My Boy released on Friday 9 September, the distinguished singer-songwriter is emerging anew. Gone is the solemn, country-indebted crooner with the velvet voice – in his place comes a more playful, shape-shifting creature.

Across My Boy’s eleven songs, Williams’ takes listeners on a sonic and emotional journey which the artist explains is intentional; “As a live performer one of my favourite things to do is blindside people with upsetting mood shifts. I really wanted that to come across on this record.”

Following the release of his second album, 2018’s stunning portrait of a breakup, Make Way For Love, Williams’ has become an in-demand collaborator, recording duets with Courtney Barnett, Paul Kelly and Yo-Yo Ma amongst others. My Boy parlays this flush of worldly experience into a vivid, dynamic record as spirited, complex and kinetic as the unfolding life of its performer.

An exquisite live artist, Marlon Williams is currently on the road taking his My Boy Tour across North America, and from mid-October lands in Europe for extensive headline dates. Don’t miss your chance to experience Marlon Williams live in concert in February 2023, when he returns to Australian shores.

Marlon Williams’ third solo album, My Boy is out on Friday 9 September on vinyl LP, cassette and digital through Virgin Music Australia.
