Frontier Touring and Penny Drop are excited to announce India’s Peter Cat Recording Co. will touch down in Australia for the first time in January 2024.

The five-piece from New Delhi will mark their Australian debut with an exclusive evening at Melbourne’s The Night Cat on Tuesday 16 January, before making two appearances at Sydney Festival.

Penny Drop subscribers can access presale tickets on Monday 30 October from 10am local time, before general public tickets go on sale on Tuesday 31 October at 11am local time.

Formed in New Delhi, Peter Cat Recording Co. is a group that’s mutated over time, shedding members and accruing more, continuously evolving musically with each album. From gypsy jazz to psychedelic cabaret, ballroom waltzes to epic space disco and bossa supernova to uneasy listening, Peter Cat Recording Co. has a remarkable range as they channel “Delhi’s noisy hum into a sound all their own” (Stereogum).

The cast of creators behind this diverse musical outfit have an unwavering vision to challenge the idea of what music from India can and should be. Comprising of founder Suryakant Sawhney on guitars/vocals, Karan Singh on drums, Dhruv Bhola on bass/samples, Rohit Gupta on keys/trumpet and Kartik Sundareshan on guitars/trumpet, the story of Peter Cat Recording Co. has unfolded across more than ten years and multiple continents.

In broadening their listener base to North America and Europe, Peter Cat Recording Co. have curated a reference point to both Indian and international fans alike, with huge tracks ‘Memory Box’ and ‘Floated By’ that showcase the band’s incredibly unique sound garnering acclaim and resonating with fans from around the world. Releasing their debut album Portrait of a Time:2010-2016 in 2018, the group followed up with critically acclaimed project Bismillah, well and truly putting them on the world stage.
